未 and 末 are two very similar kanji with opposite meanings, so it is easy to get them confused!
未 means 'not yet', and it is most commonly found as the first kanji in a word indicating something that is incomplete or not ready, such as
みらい
未来
(future),
みまん
未満
(unsatisfied),
みち
未知
(unknown) or
みてい
未定
(undetermined).
末 means 'the end', and is most commonly found at the end of words describing something finished, most commonly
しゅうまつ
週末
(the end of the week - the weekend!).
Looking at the kanji it is actually quite easy to remember how to distinguish them. Each kanji is like a combination of 一 and 木, but in 未, the 一 is 'not yet' as wide as the flat stroke of 木, whereas in 末, the 一 stroke has reached 'the end' of its growth and is wider!
