My current mastery of this grammar:
れんたいし
連体詞
is a term used for adjectives which are neither けいようし
形容詞
(the majority of normal い and な adjectives) or けいようどうし
形容動詞
(adjectival nouns). In English rentaishi go by various names, including 'pre-noun adjectival' (to indicate they are adjective-like in form, and typically come directly before nouns), or 'attributive adjectives'.There are approximately 170 rentaishi (or words which can be used as rentaishi) in Japanese, and some of the most common examples are:
- さる
- おお大きな
- どの
- その
- この
- たん単なる
- ほん本の
- いわゆる
