Asking permission

This construction can be put together with いい as a way of asking permission, meaning literally 'even if I do ~, would that be good?'. For example:
なんじ
何時
くらいまでなら
でんわ
電話
してもいい
です
How late can I ring?

Use with question words

This construction is often used after a question word such as どこ (where) or いつ (when) or
なに
(what) etc, in which case the English meaning is 'wherever', 'whenever' etc. For example:
どこ
って
けしき
景色
おな

Everywhere you go will find the same scenery.

At most / at best etc

The ても form is often used with an adjective at the beginning of a sentence to indicate an extreme - for example, 長くても (if it is long) at the beginning of a sentence would mean 'At the longest ...'.
なが
くて
よっか
4日
しか
てません

I can wait four days at the longest.
おお
