Grammar detail: 〜がる
〜がる - (someone else) feels (something)

My current mastery of this grammar point:
For an adjective that describes an emotion, the がる construction allows you to say that another person is feeling (or acting as if they are feeling) that emotion.
For example:
- は恥ずかしい I feel embarrassed ➜は恥ずかしがる he/she feels/acts embarrassed
- こわ怖い I feel scared ➜こわ怖がる he/she feels scared
In the case of
ほ
欲
しい (want something) and 〜たい (want to do something), がる allows you to say what you think another person wants. For い adjectives, the い is replaced with がる. For な adjectives, the がる is just added.
