Grammar detail: particle へ
particle へ - direction marker
Tweet
My current mastery of this grammar point:
へ is used to show direction, placed after the location word or phrase.
へ is similar to に (for location), but where に emphasizes the location itself, へ emphasizes the direction. まで is also similar, but emphasizes the journey.
へ cannot be used to indicate progress but no physical direction. For example, the English expression 'become (a teacher etc.)' would use に not へ.
Important note: although hiragana へ (he) is used to write this particle, it is pronounced 'e' (to rhyme with the ay in birthday).
