For example:

I'll phone you as soon as I get to the airport.
can be followed immediately by another phrase, as in the above example. It can also be joined to a subsequent phrase using に:

As she grew up, she became more and more beautiful.
Note that に can also be used as a standalone expression to mean 'steadily'. For example:

can be immediately followed by だ, and turned into a standalone sentence implying that an outcome depends on the clause preceding . For example:
