ゆ verbs were an archaic verb form. The form is no longer used except in classical prose, and most ゆ verbs have evolved into
いちだん
一段
equivalents.
見ゆ ➜ 見る
殖ゆ ➜ 殖える
癒ゆ ➜ 癒える
This form appears in the translation of a popular Biblical quotation:

Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the Earth
Here we see each of the verbs in the command imperative form. At first glance it seems that 殖え is taken from 殖える, the modern 一段 verb. However, the command imperative of 殖える would actually be 殖えろ, and 殖え is the stem. In fact what we see here is the imperative form of the archaic 殖ゆ.
