Grammar detail: verb て form + すみません
verb て form + すみません - I'm sorry for doing ~

My current mastery of this grammar point:
verb て form
+ すみません
means I'm sorry for doing ~
.すみません on its own is considered 'casually polite'. In more polite speech, the すみません is usually followed by でした. In very casual speech, the form すまなかった or すまん may be used instead of すみません.
