Although Japan's car industry led the world for several decades, it is in danger of falling behind in the transition to electric cars (and beyond that to fully autonomous self-driving cars). In some recent news, Toyota, the largest car company in the world, announced a deepening of their electric vehicle collaboration with Mazda, another of Japan's biggest car companies.
