だ けれども、だ けど、だ けれど
だ けれども、だ けど、だ けれど
means
but, though, however
けれども、けど、けれど can directly follow a verb:
まいにち
毎日
うんどう
運動
するけれども、まだ
つよ
強
くなっていません
。
I exercise every day, but I'm still not strong.
わか
別
れた
けど、
げんき
元気
だよ。
We broke up, but I'm fine.
しょうみきげん
賞味期限
が
ふつか
二日
す
過
ぎています
けれども、
ほんとう
本当
にこの
たまご
卵
でいいですか。
They're two days past the best before date; are you sure these eggs will do?
Or an い adjective:
かのじょ
彼女
は
まず
貧
しい
けれど
こうふく
幸福
です。
She is poor, but she is happy.
When using with a noun or な adjective or some other forms, です or だ must be placed before けれども、けど、けれど:
かのじょ
彼女
は
かねも
金持
ち
だけれども、
しあわ
幸
せ
ではない。
Rich as she is, she is not happy.
はは
母
はお
ちゃ
茶
が
す
好
き
だけれども、
わたし
私
はコーヒーが
す
好
き
だ。
Mother likes tea, while I like coffee.
けど and the other forms are often used at the end of sentences as a way to 'soften' the tone a little, without implying that there is a contrary opinion in the way that 'but' or 'however' might do in English:
まいあさ
毎朝
とても
たの
楽
しそう
だけど。
You look on top of the world every morning.
In terms of meaning, the three forms are interchangeable. けれども is a little more polite, and would be used in more formal speech than けど. けれど is largely used only in writing.
